Lisbon, Portugal
Based in Lisbon, Casa Pia de Lisboa has been training professional watchmakers for more than 125 years and today offers one of the few fully structured watchmaking programmes in the Iberian Peninsula. Its three-year Técnico/a de Relojoaria professional course combines general education with intensive technical training and leads to both completion of secondary education and a recognised Level 4 professional qualification. Students develop the practical skills required to dismantle, diagnose, repair, regulate and restore watches and clocks, while learning to replace components and work according to professional workshop standards. The programme is taught at the Centro de Educação e Desenvolvimento Pina Manique and is designed to prepare graduates for employment in watch service centres, specialist retailers, manufacturers and independent workshops. Casa Pia also maintains links with the professional watch industry through placements and international training initiatives. With a long tradition of transmitting horological craftsmanship and strong employment prospects for graduates, Casa Pia de Lisboa remains an important reference for professional watchmaking education in Portugal.
