Located in Hamburg, Berufliche Schule Farmsen BS19 is Germany’s leading public watchmaking school and the only institution in Northern Germany offering a full-time professional qualification in watchmaking. Its three-year vocational programme follows the official German curriculum for the Uhrmacher profession and combines intensive practical workshop training with theoretical education. Students learn movement servicing, restoration, precision mechanics, component manufacturing, electronics, diagnostics and the repair of both clocks and watches while completing internships with professional watchmaking companies. Graduates sit the Gesellenprüfung (Journeyman Examination) before the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts and leave the school with a nationally recognised qualification, enabling them to work in luxury after-sales service, independent workshops or continue towards becoming master watchmakers. Certified by the German Central Association for Watches, Jewellery and Timekeeping Technology, BS19 has established itself as one of Germany’s benchmark institutions for professional watchmaking education.
