British School of Watchmaking

Manchester, United Kingdom

About the School

Founded in 2006, the British School of Watchmaking is the United Kingdom’s leading independent institution dedicated exclusively to professional watchmaking education. Based in Stockport, Greater Manchester, the school delivers internationally recognised WOSTEP programmes designed to meet the growing demand for highly qualified watchmakers. Its flagship WOSTEP Watchmaker Programme is a two-year, 3,000-hour curriculum recognised as equivalent to the Swiss four-year CFC qualification, combining movement servicing, diagnostics, precision adjustment, micromechanics and component manufacturing. The school also offers the one-year Customer Service Watchmaker Programme and specialised polishing courses, all taught by experienced industry professionals. Since opening its doors, every graduate has secured employment within the watch industry, with alumni joining leading Swiss brands, independent workshops and authorised service centres throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. Supported by the watch industry and operating as a registered charity, the British School of Watchmaking has become the benchmark for professional watchmaking education in the UK.
