Trois-Rivières, Canada
Founded in 1946 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, the École nationale d’horlogerie is the only dedicated watchmaking school in Canada. Originally established to provide professional training to Second World War veterans, the school has developed into a recognised institution for the transmission of traditional horological skills and modern repair techniques. Its vocational programme combines extensive hands-on training with the theoretical knowledge required to manufacture, assemble, diagnose, maintain and repair mechanical and electronic watches, clocks and related precision mechanisms. Students develop their skills through practical workshop experience, learning to work with specialised tools, manufacture small components and solve complex mechanical problems with a strong emphasis on precision and craftsmanship. The school also offers advanced training in watch repair for graduates wishing to deepen their expertise. With small cohorts, close individual supervision and strong links to the professional sector, the École nationale d’horlogerie prepares graduates for careers in watch servicing, restoration, jewellery workshops, independent practice and the wider horological industry.
