Shibuya, Japan
Based in Tokyo and Osaka, Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry is one of Japan’s leading vocational institutions for professional watchmaking education. Its dedicated watchmaking programmes combine traditional hand skills with modern servicing techniques, giving students a strong foundation in movement theory, tool preparation, metalworking, overhaul procedures and precision repair. In Tokyo, the Watchmaker Master Course extends over three years and includes advanced work on complicated watches such as chronographs, while the Osaka programme offers a two-year route focused on the essential skills required to enter the industry quickly. Students learn to dismantle, clean, assemble, lubricate and regulate both mechanical and quartz watches, while developing the fine manual control required for professional bench work. The curriculum also includes internships and industry exposure, helping graduates transition into watch servicing, repair workshops and the wider Japanese and international watch industry.
