Namur, Belgium
Founded in 1941 in Namur, Belgium, IATA (Institut d’enseignement des Arts Techniques Sciences et Artisanats) is one of the few schools in Europe to offer a dedicated full-time watchmaking programme at secondary vocational level. Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern mechanical, electrical and electronic technologies, the curriculum prepares students to restore, maintain, regulate and repair watches, clocks and other timekeeping instruments. Throughout the programme, students develop strong practical skills through extensive workshop training while gaining the theoretical knowledge required for professional watchmaking. Graduates earn a recognised vocational qualification, with the option to continue their studies or establish themselves as independent watchmakers. IATA has become a respected pathway into the Belgian watch industry and precision engineering professions.
