CFPT - École d'Horlogerie de Genève

Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland

About the School

Founded in 1824, the CFPT – École d’Horlogerie de Genève is the oldest watchmaking school in Switzerland and one of the most prestigious horological institutions in the world. Located in Plan-les-Ouates, at the heart of Geneva’s watchmaking industry, it provides full-time and dual apprenticeship programmes leading to federally recognised qualifications in watchmaking, production watchmaking and micromechanics. Students develop their expertise through an intensive curriculum combining traditional handcraftsmanship, movement assembly, restoration, precision adjustment and modern manufacturing techniques. A defining feature of the school is the creation of the iconic Montre École, allowing future watchmakers to manufacture, finish, assemble and regulate their own timepiece throughout their studies. Over the past two centuries, the school has educated generations of master watchmakers, independent creators and industry leaders, making it one of the world’s most influential institutions for professional watchmaking education.
