ZeitZentrum Uhrmacherschule

Founded in 1884 as the Watchmaking School of Solothurn and today based in Grenchen, Switzerland, ZeitZentrum Uhrmacherschule is one of the country’s historic centres for professional watchmaking education. Part of the BBZ Solothurn-Grenchen, the school combines vocational theory and practical training within the same institution and also serves as the professional school for watchmaking apprentices working across German-speaking Switzerland. Its four-year Uhrmacher/in EFZ programme provides extensive training in mechanical and electronic watches, movement assembly, servicing, repair, regulation and complications such as chronographs, with students developing their skills in dedicated modern workshops under experienced watchmakers. ZeitZentrum also offers training pathways in watch production and supports the wider industry through inter-company courses and specialist continuing education. Combining more than a century of horological tradition with contemporary technical training, the school prepares graduates for careers in watchmaking workshops, service departments, manufacturing, retail and the wider Swiss and international watch industry.
