Rudis Sylva is an independent Swiss watch brand founded in 2006 by entrepreneur Jacky Epitaux, alongside Laurent Frésard and Fabrice Thueler. Based in Les Bois, in the Franches-Montagnes region of the Swiss Jura, it draws on the heritage of farmer-watchmakers and a network of specialist craftspeople. Its mechanical signature is the patented Harmonious Oscillator, invented by Finnish watchmaker Mika Rissanen and introduced in 2009. Two toothed balance wheels mesh directly, with a single escapement sustaining their oscillations, offering a different approach to compensating for positional rate errors. The invention has evolved through successive creations, including the RS23, which removes the rotating cage of earlier models. Alongside its mechanical research, the brand emphasises traditional hand finishing, including guilloché, engraving, polished bevels and inward angles. Produced in very small numbers, Rudis Sylva’s watches reflect an approach built around regional expertise and recognition of the artisans behind each creation. The brand combines original movement construction with the craftsmanship of the Jura, giving its watchmaking heritage a contemporary expression.
