Shona Taine is a French independent watchmaker who established her own brand in 2020, at just 22 years old, following six years of training at the Lycée Edgar Faure in Morteau, France. Now based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, she approaches watchmaking as a meeting point between traditional craftsmanship, mechanical ingenuity and artistic expression. With a background spanning movement construction, restoration and component manufacturing, she draws inspiration from literature, philosophy and the arts to develop her own interpretation of contemporary independent watchmaking. In April 2025, she was admitted to the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI), becoming one of its youngest members. Her debut timepiece, the Khemea, reflects this approach through its three-dimensional movement architecture, tourbillon, unconventional moon phase and poetic date indication, complemented by traditional decorative techniques including hand-guilloché and Grand Feu enamelling. Working alongside specialised artisans, Shona Taine creates watches that bring together mechanical complexity, meticulous craftsmanship and a distinctly personal creative vision.
