Verbin is a family-run independent watchmaking workshop based in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, founded by father-and-son duo Sergei and Mikhail Verbin. Entirely self-taught, they have built their reputation through perseverance, engineering ingenuity and a determination to develop their own mechanical solutions despite limited resources. Combining Sergei Verbin’s expertise in precision machining with Mikhail Verbin’s skills in mechanical design and movement development, the workshop spent nearly a decade designing its first proprietary complication, resulting in the distinctive Sonare Retro with jumping hours and retrograde minutes. Rather than pursuing large-scale production, Verbin creates highly limited timepieces distinguished by original mechanical concepts, extensive in-house manufacturing and meticulous attention to both visual and acoustic experience. Every watch reflects the workshop’s philosophy that fine watchmaking should engage not only the eye, but also the ear and the hand, transforming the passage of time into a deeply sensory experience.
