Vianney Halter is an independent French watchmaker based in Sainte Croix, Switzerland, whose work is defined by a highly personal blend of mechanical invention, historical references and science fiction. After years restoring antique timepieces and developing complicated watches for leading maisons, he founded his own manufacture and began creating pieces under his name in the late 1990s. His watches are immediately recognisable for their unconventional architecture, exceptional finishing and retro futuristic aesthetic, often inspired by nineteenth century mechanics and imaginary visions of the future. Through creations such as the Antiqua, Classic Janvier and La Résonance, Vianney Halter has established one of the most distinctive languages in contemporary independent watchmaking.
