Hello, today I’d like to tell you about a young brand launch at the Geneva Watches Days in 2022. For this year, 2024, it is returning with a limited edition of its Byrne Gyro Dial Golf model. Before going into the details of the watch, I’d like to tell you about the brand’s origins.

John Byrne, the brand’s founder and a designer by training, specialized in watch restoration, bringing vintage and modern watches back to life. Always wanting to create something unique, he founded the brand in 2015 with Claire Cohen, the company’s CEO. The moment of inspiration came during a performance of George Balanchine’s Apollon Musagète in Paris. He saw a tableau in which the dancers, lined up in a row, began to change places so quickly and easily that they seemed to be one, but with changing faces. BYRNE was born and created “One watch, four faces”, a watch that changes its face every day.

Byrne’s founder is passionate about mechanics and sports, especially golf. Drawing on his affinities and interests, he has created a watch that straddles both worlds. For this limited edition, we find a green dial beautifully accompanied by delicately chiseled cubes revealing micro-sculptures dedicated to the world of golf. Let’s move on to the watch.

What are the features of the Byrne Gyro Dial Golf?

Case

The Byrne Gyro Dial Golf has a titanium case that is 41.7 mm wide, 48.1 mm long and 14.45 mm thick. Water-resistant to 5 ATM, this case has been redesigned with hollowed, profiled and grained sides that create a captivating play of colors, contrasts and textures, highlighting refined curves that are lighter and more harmonious.

Dial

The Byrne Gyro Dial Golf features a textured green dial inspired by lush Scottish greens, with matching hands. The brand’s distinctive 4-sided cubes feature 4 different faces to suit the wearer’s mood. The first features miniature kinetic sculptures of John Byrne’s golf clubs, including a driver, 7-iron, sand wedge and putter. The second features miniature kinetic sculptures of chrome golf balls. The third features Roman numerals, and the fourth presents the “sport” theme in the brand’s iconic typeface. These sculptures are made from an exclusive alloy block for the golf symbols and a block of Super-LumiNova® for the “Sport” and “Roman” indices.

Movement

The Byrne Gyro Dial Golf is equipped with the self-winding mechanical movement 5555, developed and assembled in collaboration with Le Temps Manufacture in Fleurier. With a power reserve of 60 hours, this caliber is technically very interesting.

Each rotating cube is connected to a central gear via a small vertical wheel. The appearance of the Gyro Dial Golf changes daily, at noon or midnight – or at the wearer’s discretion – displaying the four cardinal points in sequence.

Strap

The Byrne Gyro Dial Golf comes with a sporty and chic textured rubber strap in deep green with a pin buckle. On request and for an additional CHF 400, the watch can be fitted with a titanium folding clasp.

How much does the Byrne Gyro Dial Golf?

The Byrne Gyro Dial Golf is a limited edition of just 24 pieces and will be available worldwide through the brand’s distribution network at a price of CHF 25,000 (excluding VAT).

Byrne Gyro Dial Golf: a golf enthusiast’s dream

Byrne is a creative, inspired and dynamic independent watch brand. This edition is the ultimate companion for those who share a passion for watchmaking and hours spent on the golf course. This limited edition goes beyond a simple celebration of golf; it highlights a profound duality between technical precision and craftsmanship. I believe that this piece will find an audience in search of an atypical and unique watch. Many thanks to Claire and John for their warm welcome and joie de vivre.
